Kentucky lost one of it's legendary mule men on Monday, February 16, 2026 when Dannie Crawford of Hillsboro, Ky passed away at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. Dannie was 85 years old and had suffered from failing health for the past few years. He was buried alongside his parents and other family members near Grange City after taking his last ride in his favorite wagon pulled by his mules and driven by one of his many Amish friends. He was escorted by his favorite dog Joanie and his granddaughter Breanna who had ridden many miles either in the wagon with him or alongside his wagon on her favorite horse. Although it was a windy day, the Lord blessed his last ride with mild temeratures and plenty of sunshine. Click on the link below to see a few photos of Dannie's last ride.
